Mannarasala Sree Nagaraja Temple

Mannarasala Sree Nagaraja Temple (Malayalam: മണണാറശ്ശാല ശ്രീ നാഗരാജാക്ഷേത്രം) is a very ancient and internationally known centre of pilgrimage for the devotees of serpent gods (Nagaraja). The Mannarasala Temple has over 30,000 images of snakes along the paths and among the trees, and is the largest such temple in Kerala. Women seeking fertility come to worship here, and upon the birth of their child come to hold thanksgiving ceremonies here, often bringing new snake images as offerings.A special turmeric paste which is available at the temple is credited with curative powers.

Valia Amma of today is Uma Devi Antharjanam, and she was consecrated as the Valia Amma on 24th October 1993, when she was 64 years old. She is also the wife of the late Shri. M.G.Narayanan Namboothiri. The now Valiamma is now 84 and celebrations of her Shatabhisheka (ശതാഭിഷേക) is scheduled to be conducted on 23rd and 24th of this month.

മണ്ണാറശ്ശാല വലിയമ്മ ഉമാദേവി അന്തര്‍ജ്ജനം ശതാഭിഷിക്തയാകുന്നു:

ആഘോഷങ്ങൾ ഈ മാസം 23 ,24 തീയതികളിൽ നടക്കും. ശതാഭിഷേക ആഘോഷങ്ങൾക്കുള്ള ഒരുക്കം പൂർത്തിയായതായി ഇല്ലത്തെ കുടുംബാംഗങ്ങൾ പത്രസമ്മേളനത്തിൽ അറിയിച്ചു. നാഗോപാസനയില്‍ മുഴുകി ആയിരം പൂര്‍ണ്ണ ചന്ദ്രന്മാരെ ദര്‍ശിച്ചതിന്റെ പുണ്യവുമായി വലിയമ്മ നാഗപൂജകള്‍ നടത്തുന്നത്‌ കാണാനും ഭക്തര്‍ക്ക്‌ അമ്മയെ ദര്‍ശിച്ച്‌ പിറന്നാള്‍ സദ്യയില്‍ പങ്കെടുക്കാനുമുള്ള ഒരുക്കങ്ങള്‍ പൂര്‍ത്തിയായതായി ക്ഷേത്ര ഭാരവാഹികള്‍ അറിയിച്ചു. 

23ന് പുലര്‍ച്ചെ ഇല്ലത്തെ നിലവറയ്ക്ക്‌ മുന്നിലെ തളത്തില്‍ ശതാഭിഷേക ചടങ്ങുകള്‍ ആരംഭിക്കും. തളത്തില്‍ പത്മമിട്ട്‌ മഹാഗണപതിഹോമം, മൃത്യുഞ്ജയഹോമം, കലശപൂജ, വിഷ്ണുപൂജ എന്നിവ പടിഞ്ഞാറെ പുല്ലാംവഴി ദേവന്‍ കൃഷ്ണന്‍ നമ്പൂതിരിയുടെ മുഖ്യ കാര്‍മികത്വത്തില്‍ നടക്കും.  തിങ്കളാഴ്ച  നാഗരാജാവനും സർപ്പയക്ഷിയമ്മയ്ക്കും വിശേഷാൽ മുഴാക്കാപ്പും ചുതുശ്ശത നിവേദ്യവും നടക്കും. 24ന് രാവിലെ 5ന് ഇല്ലത്തെ നിലവറയ്ക്കുമുന്നിലെ തളത്തിൽ ശതാഭിഷേക ചടങ്ങുകൾ തുടങ്ങും. വേദവിധിപ്രകാരമുളള പൂജകളും ഹോമങ്ങളും നടക്കും. പത്തരയോടെയാണ് ചടങ്ങുകള്‍ പൂര്‍ത്തിയാകുക. 

10,000 പേർക്ക് പിറന്നാള്‍ സദ്യ ഒരുക്കുന്നുണ്ട്‌. മാത്രവുമല്ല രണ്ടു ദിവസവും കലാപരിപാടികളും സംഘടിപ്പിക്കുന്നുണ്ട്. 

1930 കുംഭമാസത്തിലെ മൂലം നക്ഷത്രത്തിൽ കോട്ടയം മാങ്ങാനംഇല്ലത്ത് സുബ്രഹ്മണ്യൻ നമ്പൂതിരിയുടെയും രുക്മിണി അന്തർജ്ജനത്തിന്റെയും മകളായി ജനിച്ച ഉമാദേവി അന്തർജ്ജനത്തിന് 24ന്  84-ാം പിറന്നാൾ ആണ്. ഉമാദേവി അന്തർജ്ജനം എം.ജി. നാരായണൻ നമ്പൂതിരിയുടെ വേളിയായി 1951ൽ ആണ് മണ്ണാറശാല ഇല്ലത്ത് എത്തുന്നത്. 1993 ഒക്ടോബർ 24ന് അന്നത്തെ വലിയമ്മ സാവിത്രി അന്തർജ്ജനം സമാധിയായി. ആചാരപ്രകാരം അടുത്ത വലിയമ്മയായി അഭിഷിക്തയായ ഉമാദേവി അന്തർജ്ജനം ഇല്ലത്തെ കാരണവർ സുബ്രഹ്മണ്യൻ നമ്പൂതിരിയുടെ മേൽ നോട്ടത്തിൽ ഒരു വർഷം കഠിന വ്രതത്തോടെ ക്ഷേത്ര ചടങ്ങുകൾ സ്വായത്തമാക്കി. 1994 ഒക്ടോബർ മുതൽ ശ്രീകോവിലിൽ പൂജ തുടങ്ങി. ഉമാദേവി അന്തര്‍ജ്ജനം മണ്ണാറശ്ശാല വലിയമ്മയുടെ ചുമതലയേറ്റിട്ട് 20 വര്‍ഷമാകുന്നു.
